Stickis has a fairly minimal impact on your computer – you can download browser buttons for either Internet Explorer or Firefox. Stickis notes aren't restricted to specific bits of information but to an entire page, so you can't highlight individual elements but you can add a sort of overlying index card to any web page, with any notes you want to make on it. These are created in a fairly sophisticated text editor that pops up when you press the Stickis button, so you can format your note to suit your preference.

When you go back to the page, you'll find your note sitting on top, along with any other public notes made by other Stickis users. Surprisingly, it's this social element that causes the most annoyance. By default, the comment windows are set to appear automatically, so while it's a great website for organising your own notes, they run the risk of getting lost among the clamour of other users.
