Serif PhotoPlus has long played second fiddle to the likes of Photoshop Elements and Paint Shop Pro, and the latest version still feels a generation or so behind. The product looks great, has plenty of features, and is quick and easy to get into, but the underlying performance falls short of its rivals. Try fixing red eye, for example, and you're provided with a tool that just isn't as sophisticated and requires more clicks than other programs. This might be more easily overlooked if the software was significantly cheaper, but at this price it's just not good enough.
