PhotoPlus 6.0 is a competent tool, marred by the lack of potential for updating the program. The paid-for version is undergoing constant development, but this free edition remains as it is. This means it's falling behind some of the more sophisticated free programs. However, all the expected features are present, including support for layers and masks, the option of using plug-ins and a range of selection tools. Anyone using it to produce images for the web will welcome the inclusion of the animated GIF creator and the Export Optimizer, which makes it easy to balance image quality with file size.
