This takes a different approach to most of the other software, loading different programs to cope with different sections of the editing process, from capture through to creating a final product. With a clear and clean working environment throughout all the programs though, you'll feel at home wherever you are.

Capture offers two basic settings – full blown digital video or MPEG-2, the format used to squeeze feature films onto DVD, which it can create on the fly for significantly smaller file sizes.

There is a range of editing options available: CineMagic can automatically merge your video with a selected piece of music; or StoryBuilder can help create standard videos quickly by using pre-defined templates.

It's the main editor that's the star of the show though, linking power with exceptional ease of use. There are elements lacking here that appear in some of its rivals, but if you're new to all this and are serious about wanting to grow as a video editor, there's no better intermediary software for balancing ease of use with plenty of features.
