With its clean interface and seamless integration with your email program, Norton AntiSpam provides one of the simplest and smartest ways to tackle junk mail. At its most basic, it merely adds a button to your toolbar that lets you flag messages as spam or not and block offending senders in future.

However, open the options panel and you have access to a range of filtering tools, including automatic blocking of emails containing invisible text and scripts; protection against phishing scams by detecting disguised web links; and the ability to scan your Yahoo Mail account. You can also set up rules to block messages containing specific words and prevent your address being used by spammers. Norton AntiSpam's filtering prowess is rather hit and miss and requires you to identify some spam manually after it's already been downloaded, but you can train the software to recognise messages from trusted sources.
