With its funky design and protective rubber casing, the Nokia 5210 is a great phone for trendy or just plain clumsy users. Features such as the stopwatch, countdown timer and thermometer make it ideal for outdoor sporty types, while it's compact and light enough to slip into any pocket. Other useful tools include a calendar, which can store up to 100 notes, an infrared link for data transfer, and a mobile internet browser.

For the fun factor, there's a picture editor that lets you create and edit picture messages, a choice of five games (with the ability to download more from Club Nokia) and customisable ringtones.

Reception is very good and, in the Nokia tradition, the 5210 is wonderfully simple to use, with a logical menu system that helps you access specific functions quickly. Its screen is on the small size, though well lit and very easy to read, but you should have no complaints about the phone's soft cover. Not only does this give the handset a rugged yet comfortable feel, it also guards against splashes, dust and bumps and is available in various groovy colours. Stylish, hardwearing and reasonably priced, the 5210 is the ultimate accessory for an active lifestyle.
