With a clean, intuitive interface and wonderfully smooth operation, Moonfruit SiteMaker 4.0 makes creating a quality website a breeze. Although it uses the same template-based approach as rival services, here you have complete freedom to edit, move and delete objects so the original design serves as a starting point rather than a confining structure.

Particularly useful is the File Manager, which allows you to select and add elements from an enormous library to spice up your site. This includes everything from clipart, images and animations to media players, visitor counters and seller tools. You can also upload photos, MP3s and documents from your hard disk, though these will eat into your web space limit. Changing the size and style of objects is simple thanks to the floating Editor box, while it's equally easy to switch between and organise different pages.

Verdict
SiteMaker 4.0 is provided with all Moonfruit packages, but the free version includes ads, restricts some features and limits you to one 15-page site and 5MB of web space. For £5.99 per month you get the full range of tools, five sites and 100MB of web space, which should be adequate for most home users, plus there's a free 14-day trial.
