This is all well and good, but with video capabilities popping up on all sorts of hardware devices, from phones to digital cameras, you may not need to add fancy titles and cuts, but just be looking for something that can stitch together all the video you've shot from your mobile. Windows Movie Maker comes bundled with Windows XP and has just enough functionality to grab video from your device, chop out the bits you don't want, glue the rest together and write it to a video file for watching on your PC.

The biggest problem is that you can't write to a DVD. If you need TV functions then you're going to have to look elsewhere. Otherwise, for basic editing straight onto your PC, this is impossible to beat at the price.
