One of the potential drawbacks of simple web-design software is that once you've created a basic site, it may not offer the tools to develop your skills and pages further. Lycos has taken this on board with its terrific OneClickSite service, which provides a wealth of optional extras to help you fulfil all your website dreams. It works using a database system rather than templates, giving you greater control and flexibility.

Applications available to install include weblog software WordPress, image gallery creator Singapore, discussion forums from phpBB, e-business tool osCommerce and many more. Each of these modules lets you customise your site without any programming, and are rated for ease of use in Lycos's online guide. Better still, as the name of the builder suggests, everything is accessible with a single click from within the main control panel so you can revise your site in a matter of seconds. Pages created through the service look superb, with a professional feel that rivals many standalone commercial products.
