JumpKnowledge creates a version of the web pages you want to annotate on its own server. It's easy to type your notes directly into this simulated web page because the text on the page moves around your notes. In contrast to most other annotation services, you don't need to download anything or even be logged in to make a note and get a new URL with your jottings incorporated. You can then bookmark these or email them to people as you wish. If you do sign in to the service, you can access lists of all the sites you've annotated. In terms of appearance, this is all function with none of the web 2.0 flashiness we've become used to, though whether you think this is a benefit or a hindrance is down to personal taste.
