If you've already got an HD TV and your main reason to get external storage is to transfer videos and photos onto it, this is an ideal device. A USB connection is an easy way to connect it to your PC, and you can also use it as a USB hub. More advanced users can connect it via a network, either wired or wirelessly, so you don't even need to move it away from your TV to fill it with media files. On the subject of TVs, it has the standard Composite and S-Video connections with stereo sound, but also has the ports to attach it to a five-channel surround sound system, and component ports for connecting it to an HD television. Although this gives it a lot of power it also starts getting bogged down in complexity. The way you choose media isn't overly friendly and the layout of the remote control is rather bizarre. In a nutshell, it's very powerful but is better suited for more technical users.
