At the top end of the scale you can get some amazing pieces of kit. The HP Pavilion comes with a glorious 17in flat screen, designed to work at a resolution of up to 1,280 x 1,024 pixels. It's also impressive inside, revealing a hefty 1GB RAM and 200GB hard disk.

This entire model sports HP's team colours, with its dark blue and silver marrying the case, the monitor and the wireless mouse and keyboard. The case has a secret panel on the front which hides a host of ports, capable of accepting headphones, a mic, a digital video camera (or anything else with a FireWire connection), a USB 2.0 device or any number of different memory cards including SmartMedia, xD, SD, CompactFlash or Memory Stick. It also has TV-out ports so you can plug your PC into a TV if you wish.
