This is more of a purist's download manager than its heavyweight rival Free Download Manger. It keeps the extras to a minimum but manages the simple downloading of files very competently. Click on a file link in your browser and Fresh Download pops up and takes over, letting you easily control where to save the file, what to call it, whether you want to queue it up or schedule it to download later. The program integrates into Internet Explorer and Firefox, and once you've started a download a visual speed bar appears on-screen. There's also an extensive collection of further options that'll let you do things like shut down or hibernate your PC after you've finished downloading.
