Flickr has made something of a name for itself by being one of the pioneers of the Web 2.0-style website and it's for good reason – the interface is wonderfully easy to use, the upload tool is a drag-and-drop dream and the community and sharing features remain second to none.

Perhaps most importantly of all, however, you can drop your photos into this service and they're stored at their original resolution, so you could easily use it as a place to back-up your pictures. In fact, various differently sized versions of each picture are maintained by the site and you can access each of these, link to them from elsewhere or download them back to your computer.

The downside is that the free service has some restrictions on it. The most obvious are the 20MB per month upload limit and that you can only maintain three albums, though you can get around the latter with intelligent application of the site's super tagging system, which allows you to use keywords to describe and subsequently find and even share images.
