Download Managers round up
Product reviews > Software > Download Managers

Despite the promise, the net isn't particularly reliable for downloading. The biggest problem is large files, which can take an age to download on a normal modem. This makes it really annoying if something goes wrong half-way through a download.
One common problem is getting cut off because you're with an ISP that automatically disconnects you after an hour or two. This inevitably happens just as you're 97 per cent of the way through a download. Normally, if you're cut off in mid-download, this means you have to start again - one of the most frustrating things that can happen to a web user.

But you don't have to put up with this frustration. Instead you can get a piece of software called a download manager. Most of these programs allow you to continue an interrupted download where you left off.
