Like CyberPatrol, CYBERsitter will search your hard disk for questionable material (cookies and temporary files) as soon as it is installed and gives you the option of removing it. The web filtering offered by the program can be a little on the aggressive side, meaning access to some harmless sites will be denied, but it is rare for an objectionable site to slip through the net. There are there are a huge number of filtering categories, which work in conjunction with a database of sites known to be 'objectionable', and the filter settings can be applied to web browsing, instant messaging, newsgroups and emails.

For instant messaging, you can opt to filter out certain words, block IM programs altogether or monitor activity. Using the latter option, CYBERsitter will record messaging conversations and email them to you each day. The program's configuration can take time to get used to, but once mastered this is a powerful tool.
