Photoshop Elements has long been a Web User favourite. This latest version keeps all the bits we've learned to love – combining many of the sophisticated editing capabilities of Adobe Photoshop with an easy-to-use interface.

Images can be imported from cameras, scanners or folders, and catalogued and tagged according to favourites, events, people – or whatever you want. There's also a timeline option, making it easy to find pictures from Christmas 2004, for example. A clever feature here is face recognition, which will automatically reference pictures of people to your 'people' folder. It can't recognise individuals yet – but it will automatically get rid of red eye as it imports.

Images can be selected and edited using a wide range of tools, and you can choose between advanced manual editing or 'quick fix' auto-editing options. The Create section lets you make personalised greetings cards, calendars and more.

Web integration is included, with options to store and print photos online, email photos, or create online galleries. Flash technology has also been integrated allowing some interesting templates and animated galleries.

One drawback is that – like most imaging software – Elements will only work with certain online services, and those don't include Flickr or automatic blog integration.
