The latest version of Adobe's Photoshop Elements hasn't deviated from its award-winning formula. It comes in two parts, which are effectively two different software programs – the Editor and the Organiser. Although the Organiser is a bit redundant (there are plenty of free options like Google's Picasa – http://picasa.google.co.uk – to archive images), the Editor is a genuine star. Its advanced functionality takes many of the most important elements of its professional big brother, Photoshop, wrapping them up in an easier-to-use package.

Users of previous versions will notice little change beyond the charcoal-grey user interface (this year's must-have software colour) but there are some great features in here. If you want a quick fix to touch up your photos, there's a guided process that's superbly organised for those who already have a bit of image-editing know-how but don't want to go through the fine-tuning process themselves.
