This review updated: 17/03/2005 Featured in magazine: Issue 105 Manufacturer Contacts: Supplier: 2wire Web Address: www.2wire.com This device, manufactured by 2wire, broke the mould in terms of design – it's the only wireless broadband router we've tested that stands upright and proud. The unit comes with a CD pre-configured to BT's broadband offerings, making installation simple if BT is your ISP. Advanced users can by-pass this and install the device with any ADSL-based ISP, but this isn't supported by BT and certainly shouldn't be attempted by anyone who doesn't know exactly what they're doing. If you have a BT connection, raise the ease-of-use score below to a full five stars. Wi-Fi security is on by default so you can surf in safety from the beginning. There's also an easy to configure firewall and a handy self-filtering option, so you can stop computers on your network accessing certain sites. The device comes with four Ethernet ports for wiring computers directly, along with a USB port should you find your computer lacking. The Wi-Fi works with the 802.11b and 802.11g standards.
