Samsung Galaxy Tab UK launch date revealed
Samsung will launch the Samsung Galaxy Tab in the UK on 1 November, the company has announced.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab is a tablet-style handheld device that runs version 2.2 of the open source Android operating system.
It has a 7in TFT-LCD (thin film transistor-liquid crystal display) touchscreen, has a a 1GHz processor and weighs 380g.
Simon Stanford, managing director of Mobile at Samsung UK and Ireland said: "The Samsung Galaxy Tab brings a very unique proposition to the tablet market and from 1 November, gives consumers the ultimate in connectivity and portability that they have been waiting for.
"It can be enjoyed by anyone - commuters, students, parents, businesses - who want to experience a complete range of entertainment, whether that be watching movies, listening to music, reading newspapers, or simply making a phone call plus much more besides," he continued.
There are two cameras, one facing forward for taking pictures and another facing towards the user for video-calling. It comes with either 16GB or 32GB of internal memory, 512MB of RAM, and connects to the web using Wi-Fi and 3G.
The price hasn't yet been revealed.
Meanwhile, rival manufacturer Disgo has announced a low-cost 7in Android-based tablet, the Disgo Tablet 6000, which costs £179.99.
