FarmVille logins stolen and published online

A number of players' login details for Facebook game FarmVille - as well as for Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail accounts - have been revealed in a database online.

The discovery came to light after a security expert was directed to a fake FarmVille login screen. After looking around the site URL he found thousands of login details that had been stolen.

Christopher Boyd, senior threat researcher at GFI said: "While we can't confirm these logins were obtained via the FarmVille phish, there's a good chance that many of the users on the list use the same passwords for their email accounts as their Facebook login."

"We have everything from Yahoo and Gmail to Hotmail and AIM on there - not great in terms of the amount of personal data that might be accessible," he continued.

He said he has also found another 'account dump' site registered from a Chinese email address so there are a couple of scammers out there "having some fun".

Farmville has been a popular target for scammers recently, with security experts warning about a virus hoax and a cheat website for the game.

A list of Facebook members personal details were published on a bit torrent site in July, although this information wasn't stolen, but merely scraped from the site from information that is already accessible online.
