Skype launches 10-way video calls
Skype has released its latest update which makes it possible to make group video calls that feature up to 10 people.
This is the second beta release of Skype 5.0 and is being released for Windows. The first beta of Skype 5.0 introduced group video-calling in May but it was only possible to add up to five people.
To use this function, every person taking part in the group call must have downloaded this version of Skype.
Other changes made in the new release include a redesigned layout and the addition of Skype Home.
On Skype Home you can follow your contacts' mood messages, set profile pictures, get account notifications and learn more about Skype.
The Skype blog said that the call quality has been improved for group calls since the first beta and a number of bugs that affected stability have been fixed.
Peter Parkes, Skype's blogger-in-chief, added: "We've also made a number of other housekeeping fixes since the first beta - but please bear in mind that this is still a beta version, and so there may be the odd bug remaining."
Skype will announce Mac and Linux releases when they're applicable.
