Xbox Kinect UK prices revealed

Gamers in the UK will have to fork out 129.99 to get their hands on the Kinect motion sensor technology when its released later this year.

Microsoft announced the prices for the Kinect kit - which works by sensing players' motion rather than through the use of a handheld controller - along with details of an entry-level Xbox 360 4GB.

This latest console will have a matt-black finish, built-in Wi-Fi capabilities and touch-sensitive buttons. It is due to be released on 20 August and will cost 149.99.

Microsoft will also be releasing a console bundle in which players can buy the Xbox 360 4GB, Kinect and the Kinect Adventures game for 249.99. Since the games are due to be priced at 39.99 each, the bundle will save customers nearly 70.

The Kinect kit will work on every Xbox console on the market but needs 175MB of memory to run.

Microsoft is releasing 15 games at launch including Kinectimals, Kinect Sports, Kinect Joy Ride and MTV Games' and Harmonix's Dance Central.

Xbox 360's chief operating officer Dennis Durkin said: "With full body, voice and the ability to play games with your friends right out of the box, Kinect is the most unique, complete and affordable way for everyone to enjoy controller-free fun and entertainment."

Project Natal became Kinect after months of speculation and testing in June this year.
