Meerkat toys available on eBay

Harrods announced on Tuesday that the 5,000 limited edition, soft-toy versions of Compare the Meerkat's Aleksandr Orlov, which were expected to be sold in the store in the run-up to Christmas, were all to be given to charity.

The charities to receive the toys included Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity, The Evelina Children's Hospital, Chase Hospice Care for Children, Rainbow Trust Children's Charity and The Shooting Star Hospice.

These charities have now put a certain number of the meerkat toys up for auction on eBay meaning that customers who were disappointed to miss out on buying the talking teddies can still get their hands on one.

Bids are already exceeding 100 on certain listings and delivery is being charged at 10. The auctions for the meerkat toys currently listed all end this weekend (Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 December).
