Brits spend three days a month online

British surfers spend an average of three days a month online, equating to over a month (34 days) every year.

They also spend seven hours talking on the phone, the equivalent of having a three-day conversation over the space of the year.

More than half of the adults surveyed by price-comparison site Moneysupermarket.com also claimed that they would be completely cut off from the world without a phone or the internet.

One in four said they were worried they'd miss out on something and one in seven said they wouldn't know how to contact friends without the use of a mobile or the web.

Julie Owens, broadband and mobiles spokeswoman at Moneysupermarket.com, said: "Mobile phones and the internet have become a way of life for millions of people.

"Mobiles are no longer just used as phones and as a result people have become more and more dependent on them," she continued.
