A free online radio player offering content from every licensed radio station in the UK will be launched next year.
Called UK Radioplayer, it is a pop-up console that lets you search through stations by name or category.
It will even let you identify individual programmes such as news bulletins and songs that are being played at the time.
The UK Radioplayer is a collaborative project between the BBC, RadioCentre, Global Radio and Guardian Media Group.
Tim Davie, director of BBC Audio & Music, said: "The aim of this service is to grow listening across the industry and help preserve radio's unique position."
Radio stations will have the choice of whether or not to join up with the project and those that do will be able to offer features such as on-demand audio, click-to-buy music services, webcams, track listings and adverts.
There could also be versions for mobile devices in the future.
The launch date has not been named but we are told to expect it "early next year".
