The Open University (OU) has become the first provider of free university content to reach 10 million downloads in the special education section of iTunes - iTunes U.
This makes the OU the top provider of educational content on the entire site.
An average of 375,000 pieces of OU content have been downloaded every week since it launched in June 2008 and tracks from the OU's 260 collections are consistently in the Top 20 downloads.
The most popular collections have been in languages and science with the most downloaded to date being Beginners' French.
"We believe this success comes from offering new video and audio tracks from popular, current courses that easily incorporates into students' studies," said Martin Bean, vice chancellor at the OU.
