Kill a Zombie Day promotes PC security

Celebrate Halloween 2009 by joining the fight against spam and malware.

Rather than dressing up as a zombie for Halloween on 31 October, why not destroy one instead?

So goes the concept of Kill a Zombie Day, which has been set up by security company Sophos to encourage PC users worldwide to battle against 'zombies' - computers that have been taken over by cybercriminals to spread malware and commit identity theft.

According to Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos: "If your computer has been turned into a zombie, then a hacker has complete control of your PC. That means they can read everything you type, see every website you visit, as well as spam out adverts through your internet connection without your knowledge".

To take part in International Kill a Zombie Day, all you need to do is scan your PC and those of your friends with an up-to-date anti-virus program, and to ensure that your system is sufficiently protected against the evil zombie threat.
