Hornby Olympic bus - buy online
Model maker Hornby has launched the first official toy for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The miniature red London bus is a five-inch replica of the Enviro 400 vehicle featured in the handover ceremony at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and comes in special London 2012-branded packaging with a certificate of authenticity.
Only 5,000 of the buses have been made by Hornby through its Corgi brand, with 30 other sets of collectibles due to go on sale before the Olympics opening ceremony, which kicks off exactly 1,000 days from this Saturday, 31 October.
The other models in the limited-edition series will include an Airfix kit of the Olympic stadium in Stratford, a Scalextric velodrome set and a scale version of the high-speed Olympic Javelin shuttle train.
The London 2012 bus is priced at 29.99 and is available to buy online from Corgi, Hamleys, Model Zone and other model and collectible stores.
