Amazon Kindle coming to the UK - official
It seems that last week's rumours about the imminent UK launch of the Amazon Kindle were true.
The company has announced that customers outside the US will finally be able to get their hands on a Kindle on 19 October, two years after the first Kindles were launched in America.
You'll have to pay in dollars - $279 to be precise - which works out at roughly 175. However, the final cost will be more.
"Your international shipment is subject to customs duties, import taxes and other fees levied by the destination country. We will show you these fees upon checkout," the site says.
When Web User ordered a Kindle through the Amazon.com site, import duties of $45 (around 28) were applied, bringing the total cost to 203.
You can order the Kindle on the Amazon.com website.
The Kindle is able to download content over 3G mobile networks, including books and newspapers, which can then be read on its six-inch display.
