Offline Spotify launched for paying customers

An offline mode that lets you play tracks from Spotify's massive music library while not connected to the web has been launched.

Offline Spotify launched for premium customers

Spotify has launched an offline mode for its desktop application that will let you hear tracks from the site's vast library even when you're not connected to the web.

However, only users of the paid-for premium version will be able to use the offline mode. The premium version costs £9.99 per month.

"To use offline mode you'll need to be running the latest version of Spotify and you may have to log out and back in for the feature to kick in," said Andres Sehr of Spotify.

As with Spotify's recently released mobile app, users can compile playlists while connected to the web to play while offline.

Spotify also offers a free service, where users hear advertising between every few tracks that they play.
