Vodafone has tied up a deal with Warner Music which means its customers can download music free of DRM (digital rights management) from all four major record labels onto their handsets.
The deal makes Vodafone the first mobile network operator to offer "over-the-air" access to music from all four majors in DRM-free format, the company claims.
"Warner Music's addition to our mobile DRM-free catalogue is really great news for our customers," said Pieter Knook, Vodafone's internet services director.
The company has been offering DRM-free music downloads to customers from the other three major record labels - Sony BMG, EMI and Universal - since June 2009.
Vodafone has offered music downloads since the end of 2007, but initially the tracks came with DRM restrictions, meaning they could only be played on one device.
