A Spotify application for the iPhone and the iPod touch which lets you stream music to your device has been approved by Apple.
The app, which was submitted by Spotify, an ad-supported music-streaming service, in July will be made available to download from the Apple App store shortly.
There was speculation as to whether the Spotify app would be approved as Apple does not reveal its policies for accepting applications. However, it has given the Soptify app the green light.
The Spotify app will be free to download for owners of Apple's handsets, but anyone using it will be required to have a subscription to Spotify's premium service, which is £10 per month.
"The current status as of right now is it's been approved and we hope to add the app to the more than 65,000 apps on the app store very soon," said an Apple spokesman.
"We've been in constant communication working with the developer and have already notified Spotify that the app will be in the app store very soon," the spokesman continued.
Earlier this month a Spotify mobile app was made availabe for the Android platform, which is backed by Google. Spotify will also begin streaming in the US later on this year.
