Erotic audio tapes made by Madonna, a scarf worn by John Lennon and a police mug shot of Janis Joplin have gone on sale in an online memorabilia auction. The Madonna tapes, recorded in 1992 and 1993, are phone messages she left on the answering machine of Jim Albright, the singer's boyfriend at the time. The auction owners expect the tapes to sell for up to $40,000 (£24,205). An intimate home video featuring Madonna, which she also sent Albright, has an estimated value of up to $14,000 (£8,461). Other items listed on the The Gotta Have It! auction website include memorabilia from many rock and roll legends. The biggest single lot is an array of items from The Beatles, which includes a leather jacket and scarf worn by John Lennon, listed at $50,000 (£30,500) and $20,000 (£12,217) respectively. Beatles fans can also buy a handwritten set list from 1961, listed at $20,000 (£12,217). Other items on the website include Jimi Hendrix's first recording contract. Signed by the musician, it is expected to fetch up to $250,000 (£151,287). A photograph of Janis Joplin upon her arrest by the Tampa, Florida Police Department in November, 1969, is listed at $4,000 (£2,400). The online auction opened yesterday and runs until 5 August. Many of the items have yet to receive a bid.
