Mozilla has recommended that anyone using the Firefox 3.5 browser should change configuration settings to guard against a vulnerability in the program.
The flaw is in the way the browser handles JavaScript and could allow a hacker to take control of your PC remotely.
To fix the problem, you should enter 'about:config' without the quote marks into the browser's location bar to bring up Firefox's Config Editor.
Type 'jit' in the Filter box at the top of the Config Editor and double-click the line containing 'javascript.options.jit.content' and set the value to 'false'.
"Note that disabling the JIT will result in decreased JavaScript performance and is only recommended as a temporary security measure. Once users have been received the security update containing the fix for this issue, they should restore the JIT setting," the company said in a statement.

The company said that a fix for the vulnerability would be issued as soon as possible.
"Mozilla developers are working on a fix for this issue and a Firefox security update will be sent out as soon as the fix is completed and tested," Mozilla said.
