Mozilla hints at Firefox 3.7 design

Mozilla has released templates of what its Firefox version 3.7 web browser will look like to inspire developers.

Mozilla has posted some 'mock-ups' of Firefox 3.7 to inspire developers working on themes for the yet-to-be-released browser. The templates, which are works in progress, are of what the browser will look like in Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. The themes, which have been made available on the Mozilla Wiki website, are for brainstorming and exploration, according to a notice on the site. Mozilla released Firefox 3.5 at the end of June. Changes on the mock-ups so far include ditching the bar where the File, Edit, View and History buttons are located. On the right of of the search bar a new box has been added with a button to make the Tools and Bookmarks button available. The mock-ups reveal Mozilla's intention to give more of the interface over to the web page rather than clogging it up with Firefox functions, similar to Google's Chrome. The theme revamp embraces 'glass' buttons, which are 3D, translucent and slightly glossy to meld with the toolbar. There are likely to be many more changes to version 3.7 of the browser as version 3.6 has not yet been released.
