Web User: Big Earth travel website launched

The makers of hit TV shows Long Way Down and By Any Means have launched a website for adventure travellers.

Knowledge built up from the TV series has been ploughed into the site, so that people setting out for a trek across Africa, South America or even to the Arctic can use it to prepare for their trips.

Big Earth is divided into three main categories: Plan, Share and Discover.

Each category is intended to aid travellers on their journey, offering information about vaccinations, vehicle maintenance, filming and taking photographs on the move.

An interactive map of the world lists locations scattered around the globe where Big Earth members have been to and what they blogged about.

Once on the road Big Earth is encouraging intrepid travellers to share their videos and experiences, which will be shown on the site.

Russ Malkin, founder of Big Earth, said: "The key to successful adventure travel is preparation and research, and with Big Earth we’re aiming to open up the knowledge we’ve built up to the online travel community, and also inspire them to get involved."
