Internet security company McAfee has revealed that fraudsters are using the names of female tennis stars as bait for various scams on the net.

When you search for crowd-pleasers such as Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova you are increasing your risk of encountering cyberattacks ranging from spyware to identity theft, the company warned.

Cybercriminals are increasingly linking their scams to popular events and celebrities.

Female tennis players are just the latest group to be used in this ongoing ploy to catch people out online, McAfee said.
