O2 has confirmed that it has secured an exclusive agreement to sell the new Palm Pre in the UK, although no definite release date has yet been set.
The company expects the Palm Pre to be in shops before Christmas. The Pre went on sale in the US last month.
The Pre, an internet-enabled mobile phone, represents Palm's most serious effort to date to regain a foothold in the smartphone market.

The Pre, unlike Apple's iPhone, features a slide-out Qwerty keyboard, as well as a touchscreen interface and a three-megapixel camera.
It also comes with a proprietary operating system dubbed WebOS, which is capable of pulling contact data from social-networking websites such as LinkedIn and Facebook to the phone's address book.
Having gained the exclusive rights to sell the the Pre in the UK, O2 now has both the Apple iPhone and the new Palm Pre on its roster.
