Coldplay named best songwriters

British band Coldplay were crowned songwriters of the year at the Ivor Novello awards in London yesterday.




The rock group were honoured for their second album A Rush of Blood to the Head while David Gray won the best song of the year for The Other Side, at the ceremony celebrating songwriters.


Other winners includes Avril Lavigne ,who won the award for international hit of the year with her single Complicated, Liberty X for Just A Little Bit and U2 for lifetime achievement.
