Xbox finally goes Live

Microsoft's online gaming service Xbox Live has finally arrived in UK high-street shops today.

Microsoft's online gaming service Xbox Live has finally arrived in UK high-street shops today.

The online gaming service lets broadband internet users play games online with friends and talk to other players via a special Xbox communicator head-set.

Gamers need an Xbox games console (£199), a broadband connection and an Xbox Live starter kit (which includes subscription to Xbox Live).

The Xbox Live Starter kits are available from stores including HMV, Toys 'R' Us and Comet for £39.99. BT Openworld, Telewest and NTL are official Xbox compatible broadband providers.

Duncan Ingram, managing director for BT Openworld, said: "Broadband gaming opens up worlds of opportunities for players. Xbox Live offers an intense gaming experience and it's a great brand to work with."
