Offload unwanted presents online

Don't queue for a refund when you can swap and sell unwanted Christmas presents online.

True to form Granny has given you yet another bottle of cheap aftershave, you've got novelty socks from Santa and a copy of Mariah Carey's Greatest Hits - all of which you don't want.

Enter the web and its extensive list of virtual swap shops and auction sites, where you can sell or swap unwanted items rather than queue for a refund. Here are Web User's top recommendations for getting shot of those unwanted gifts.

Webswappers has some great items to swap on its website such as tickets to top sporting events, antiques, jewellery and toys and games. You'll need to register to take part but then you're just one click away from dumping your Christmas jumper.

Alternative swapping sites include swopworld, where you can sell books, computers, electrical goods, music and games and consoles and the gameswapshop - perfect if you've already exhausted your new game over the holiday season. Auction site ebid has also launched a http://swap.ebid.co.uk/ ">swap site that allows you to list what you're offering and a wish list of up to five items.

But don't despair if there's nothing you're willing to trade for - you can always sell off unwanted items for hard cash in a web auction and buy yourself a treat in the January sales.

Ebid, as mentioned earlier is primarily an auction site. Categories are clearly listed down the left hand side of the home page and it's a great place to get rid of unwanted 'collectibles' such as beanie babies and Pokemon cards.

Other auction sites include eBay and QXL where you can sell anything from unwanted to books to costume jewellery.

Freeserve also has an online auction area called fsauctions. Finding your way around the site is simple and there's plenty of scope for uploading pictures of your unwanted goods in order to prompt a quicker sale.
