New research shows that Sobig worms family leads the top ten viruses chart for July 2003.

According to anti-virus company, Sophos, the SoBig virus and its variants have caused havoc across the Net during July.

The mass-mailing worm, which first appeared in January, appears to come from the email address big@boss.com and goes on to send itself to all the addresses in your Outlook address book.

Taking second place in the Sophos virus chart is Bugbear, a virus that steals passwords and credit card numbers. And the Klez email virus is still irritating web users around the world, it takes third place in the charts.

Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for Sophos Anti-Virus, said: "Forget the Osbournes or the Addams Family, the Sobig family of computer worms, accounting for more than half of all virus reports, is most likely to strike fear into the hearts of IT administrators."
