Web users will be soon able to watch classic BBC television and radio programmes via the internet. The BBC is planning to make its television library available to the general public in an online service called BBC Creative Archive. BBC Creative Archive will let you download, for private use only, selected programmes for free. Speaking at the Edinburgh Television Festival this weekend, BBC director-general Greg Dyke, said: "The BBC probably has the best television library in the world." "Up until now this huge resource has remained locked up, inaccessible to the public because there hasn't been an effective mechanism for distribution." "But the digital revolution and broadband are changing all that. For the first time there is an easy and affordable way of making this treasure trove available to all," added Dyke. There is no date set for the launch of BBC Creative Archive.
