How does a £1 fare for a bus journey from London to Oxford sound? It's a bit of a bargain and all you have to do is book online. UK bus company, Stagecoach, has launched a new service called Megabus - it's the coach equivalent of cut-price internet arilines such as Ryanair and easyJet. You can book journeys up to a maximum of six weeks in advance on the site and a minimum of one hour before the bus leaves. And prices start at a quid. Currently the list of destinations offered is rather short. You can travel from London to Oxford and back and between some of Scotland's major cities including Dundee, Perth and Glasgow. But if the business proves successful Stagecoach hopes to roll Megabus out across the rest of the UK. Be warned though this is a no-frills bus service - there are no on-board toilets and you can only take one piece of hand luggage per passenger. Tickets can only be booked via the internet. When you make a reservation you're given a number that you hand over to the driver when you board the bus.
