More Brits are using their mobile phone to access the internet, new figures have revealed. According to the Mobile Data Association (MDA), 884 million web pages were viewed from a mobile phone in August. The figures, from operators O2, Orange, Vodafone, T-Mobile and Vodafone, show that 28.5 million internet pages were viewed per day in August, compared to just 9 million for the same period last year. The MDA now expects the number of mobile internet page impressions to reach eight billion by the end of this year. So far, the total stands at 5.5 billion. The most popular sites viewed by mobile users include celebrity gossip, film and gig sites, as well as news and sports pages. Mike Short, chairman of the MDA, said: "It is likely that a large number of more sophisticated phones will be brought as Christmas presents this year, equipped with colour screens capable of providing an improved WAP experience."
