Exclusive CD Wow is once again offering UK shoppers chart CDs at £8.99 including delivery, after forging a deal with European music suppliers. The music retailer agreed to raise its prices for the UK market after accepting not to sell CDs imported outside Europe. In January, it started charging an extra £2 per CD to shoppers in UK and Ireland to cover the higher cost of buying its music from within the EU. But CD Wow has today removed those additional charges. In a newsletter to members today, CD Wow said: "We've been working our little cotton socks off to source our chart albums within the EU at the lowest possible price and cutting our margins even more. There have been a few cutbacks in the office, I'm working out of the YMCA and using an etch-a-sketch as my PC was sold." CD Wow founder Philip Robinson told Web User: "We have had huge support from EU suppliers and we're delighted at the reaction to us since the settlement. We are now able to go back to £8.99 including delivery.” “The support from our customers has also been fantastic and we thank everyone that supported us and continued to buy CDs while the increased charges were in place," added Robinson. CD Wow said it will send £1 vouchers to those shoppers that bought CDs during the additional charge period.
