More and more Brits are ordering pizzas via the internet, according to the latest figures from delivery company Domino's Pizza.

Domino’s Pizza claims its sales of pizzas via the internet have doubled since 2001 and now account for 4.5 per cent of total sales in the UK.

In 2003, Domino's pizza sales both online and via interactive TV soared by more than a third (48 per cent) - 82 per cent of pizza sales were made on the net and 18 per cent via interactive TV.

Chris Moore, marketing director at Domino’s Pizza, said: "Customers prefer to put their order together via the internet as they have total control over the process. They can see every single pizza online and our website is really easy to use."

According to Moore, the most popular pizza flavours ordered online are pepperoni and cheese but new flavours "are also quite popular as people like to experiment."
