London air for sale at eBay

Net users that fancy breathing in the fresh air of Greenwich can bid for a jar of the stuff at internet auction site eBay.

SouthEast

Net users that fancy breathing in the fresh air of Greenwich can bid for a jar of the stuff at internet auction site eBay.

A madcap eBay member is auctioning a “genuine jar of London's air bottled less than two miles from the Queen's House in Greenwich” for £10 plus £3.50 postage.

The posting claims that the bottle was filled somewhere close to the "old London to Canterbury route mentioned in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, in one of the places used regularly by Highwaymen such as Dick Turpin”.

According to the seller, Greenwich was very popular among royalty because it was away from the smell of London and was easily accessible by the Thames.

The auction, which comes to an end on 17 March, has failed to attract any bidders as yet. If you fancy a genuine jar of London air, click here.
