BT battles spam emails

BT has launched a new range of anti-spam and anti-virus services for its BT Yahoo internet customers.

BT has launched a new range of anti-spam and anti-virus services for its BT Yahoo internet customers.

The SpamGuard Plus product identifies patterns of spam mail traffic and removes the offending mails from an Inbox. It also learns to recognise what a customer classes as spam and tailors the service for each individual user.

Also in the new range is the AddressGuard product, which provides users with up to 500 disposable email addresses, which can be submitted to companies or services on the internet. If the address has been passed on to third parties, you can delete the address, while keeping your personal address for trusted people.

Consumers can also find guidance on how to fight unwanted mail with step-by-step instructions at the new online Anti-Spam Resource Centre.

Duncan Ingram, managing director for BT Openworld, said: "Combating spam and viruses is a main priority for BT. This new range of services will help our customers enjoy the internet as it was meant to be, free from spam and unwanted content."

All new and existing BT Yahoo internet customers will receive SpamGuard Plus, AddressGuard and use of the Anti-Spam Resource Center free of charge.
